Charity Manager

Jennifer Gill MBE

Oliver's mum and manager of the charity, Jennifer is passionate about the work of LoveOliver. As the charity grew she gave up her job as a teacher to be able to run it full time, as well as be mum to Oliver's two younger brothers. Jennifer is in charge of all aspects of the charity and is very grateful for all the awesome LoveOliver staff, volunteers and supporters.

Charity Operations Manager​​

Gillian Rouse

Gillian joined us in July 2025 as our Operations Manager, overseeing both the HUB and our children's charity shop in Glenrothes. She has over a decade's experience working in the charity sector. The best bits of her job so far are the variety - no 2 days look the same, and she loves working alongside our amazing volunteers. In her spare time Gillian enjoys coffee, baking and days out with her family on the beach.

    Hub Co-ordinator

    Jon Carstairs

    Jon joined LoveOliver in 2026. As a passionate advocate for children, coordinating the Hub and making it a warm, fun and purposeful environment is the best role he could ask for. He brings an extensive background in Primary Teaching and Early Years, specialising in play. He was a youth leader, Outdoor Living Skills Councelor in America and has run a variety of clubs and activities. He loves theatre, comedy, games and long walks up mountains.

      Chair

      Andy Gill

      Oliver's dad and co-founder of LoveOliver - when he's not teaching maths to secondary school pupils he is often found coaching Oliver's brothers' football teams or enjoying walks with the family's dog Rocky! Andy supports a lot of the behind-the-scenes work of the charity and is a regular face at events and teen nights at the Hub.

      Trustee

      Dr Mark Brougham

      Mark is a Paediatric Oncologist at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh.  He was Oliver’s oncologist and has been involved with Love Oliver since its inception, becoming a trustee in 2019.  He provides advice regarding research funding and helps with the support provided to patients and families on the ward.

      Outside work, he spends time with his family, as well as a lot of time on the tennis courts and doing CrossFit!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

        Trustee

        Jennifer Lucas

        Jenny is a lawyer by trade, specialising in data privacy work in the financial services industry. She was introduced to LoveOliver when the charity provided much-valued support to her close friends during their daughter Maisie’s cancer treatment. Jenny wrote and illustrated a book inspired by Maisie which raised almost £10,000 for the charity in 2021, before becoming a trustee in early 2023.

          Kate MacDonald

          As Oliver's honorary Auntie Kate loved his smiles and cuddles and has been honoured to be on the LoveOliver Board from the start. She brings her organisational and management skills from her career in the charity and political sectors.

            Trustee

            Sarah Carter

            Sarah first discovered LoveOliver when the charity supported her family during her son Milo’s time in hospital. She has been a Trustee since 2016 and is passionate about helping the charity grow to support more children and families when they need it most.

            ​​

            Outside of LoveOliver, Sarah’s children keep life busy with ballet, basketball and more, and any spare time is spent cooking.

              Gregor MacKenzie

              With a career rooted in policing and now working as an Account Director in public safety technology, Gregor is driven by a commitment to protecting and supporting communities. He was introduced to LoveOliver through his wife, who worked for a partner charity, and was immediately inspired by the charity’s mission to support families through cancer. He is honoured to contribute to this important work as a Trustee.

                Treasurer

                Tom Brown

                Tom is a financial services professional and has been a Trustee and Treasurer of LoveOliver since early 2025. He supports the charity in remaining financially sustainable and delivering its important work.

                  Trustee

                  Professor Margaret Gill

                  Maggie Gill is a researcher by training, has managed research funds and advised those awarding grants, albeit in a different field from cancer research. She brings those skills to the Board to help engagement between the researchers at Newcastle University and fellow Trustees to prioritise the use of LO funds for research. She has served on a number of research institute and charity Boards and thus also brings governance experience.

                    Malcolm S Howat

                    Malcolm became a trustee of LoveOliver in 2025, following his involvement with the charity through The Howat Foundation, where he developed a strong commitment to the LoveOliver mission. He is proud to be a trustee and looks forward to contributing to LoveOliver’s success for years to come. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
